4 Skin Care Tips for Better, Clearer Skin
Updated: Oct 31, 2019
So you’ve spent a fortune on skin products without seeing a significant change. We can imagine how disappointing this is. The good news is, tweaking a few lifestyle habits can lead to better and brighter skin. 🍉
If you're like most people, you may be focusing on the exterior of your body while forgetting what goes on inside. Skin, like anything else, does best in a wholesome, healthy environment. Here are a few tips to give it the loving care it needs!
1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Drinking water is key to having healthy skin because it clears your cells of toxins and improves cell elasticity. However, we know that the idea of chugging two bottles of water every day doesn’t sound very appealing. If this is the case, you can opt to 'eat' your water instead and start eating fruits like watermelon and coconuts. 🥥
2. Eat Cleaner and Healthier
Sadly, vegetables cannot be avoided. 😔 This is because they have all the vitamins that your body needs in order to rebuild your cells. A good plate of fish is great as well because the protein generates collagen that keeps your skin strong and elastic.
Aside from that, try to eat as much avocado as you can and substitute cooking oil for virgin olive oil. These ingredients contain a load of healthy fats that are responsible for giving your skin that youthful glow.
Most of all, avoid processed sugar and preservatives that are present in soda and sugary treats. All sugar does is cause break-outs. 🤷🏾♀️
3. Drink less alcohol
Have you ever noticed how pale and ashy your skin gets after a night out? Alcohol is admittedly the biggest enemy to your skin because of its dehydrating nature. Limit your alcohol intake to social events and if you can’t cut out the fun, remember to drink a lot of water.
4. Get Some Sleep
Now we’re talking. Snooze away! Your body needs that time to repair itself. We know that it’s tempting to work yourself to the bone in the hope of being productive, but this culture is not sustainable.
The truth is, you need at least eight hours of restful sleep to keep your mind sharp and to avoid eye-bags and fading skin tissue. 💤
5. Look for Anti-oxidants
Think of anti-oxidants as the fountain of life. These are responsible for keeping your skin tight and are key in making sure that you age gracefully. Anti-oxidants are abundant in natural skin products and in skin serums, especially those with hyaluronic acid.
6. Switch to Natural products
There is a whole range of natural products that work wonders for your skin. Honey, for example, is a powerful humectant, is antibacterial and leaves a beautiful afterglow. You can also easily treat your body to a home spa session by exfoliating with our coffee scrub.
